Your Excellency,

You're right,  life isn't fair, nor is the SCA.  However in my mind, the best of us rise above fair and unfair to lead by example.   To show how it SHOULD be done.  

As far as Peerages being universal, well, the criteria may be written in like manner but those making the decisions will never be using a universal scale.  Though the basic criteria for becoming a Knight is martial prowess on the field can you honestly say that a fighter from Kingdom A need meet the very same level of prowess as a fighter from Kingdom B?

That being said building a Peerage for the non-heavy fighting community could quite easily build up those areas of say, Virgina, where folks are not investing the time energy or money in persute of an activity which will, at this point in time, NEVER make them leaders of this community.

Hrothgar, are you honestly saying those who can fight heavy, those who can't fight light???  You seriously believe that the only reason people chose to fight rapier or do combat archery is because they have neither the physical or mental will to pick up ratan??  I just want to be clear on your sentiment.
