Friends and neighbors,

At Ymir two or three years ago, the weather was awful, and a kind person lent my shivering children a scarf. It is what I would call a keffiyeh, although Wikipedia tells me you might call it a yashmagh, ghutrah, ḥaṭṭah, or mashadah. It's about 3 feet square, black with white embroidery. An SCA herald might describe it as sable semy of crosslets, with a fancy bordure. It's not a pattern I recognize; certainly not the distinctive Palestinian fishnet pattern made famous by Arafat, but I suppose it must be a souvenir of some military expedition or other.

If anyone recognizes this scarf, would you please contact me privately? I would like to return it to its rightful owner with thanks for the warmth and apologies for the delay.

Your servant,

Charles Fleming
