Le Grande Tournoi de Amitie-The Great Tourney of Friends
 
Greetings, 
Spring in the Barony of Windmaster’s Hill brings a time for great celebration. To honor all those in our Barony there shall be a Royal joust, for the entertainment and enjoyment of our Excellencies : Baron Girard le Bourguignon and Baroness Guenievre de Monmarche AND all of the good citizens of our fair lands on Saturday April 18th 2009.  
Troll opens at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 17, and the site closes on Sunday, April 19, at 1 p.m. The site is located at Little River Trails campground, 1690 McNeill-Hobbs Rd., Bunnlevel, NC 28323 (south of Lillington, NC). The site includes hot water showers and bathrooms and a covered shelter for court and feast.

The joust shall be a Round Robin Tournament. The RIDERS shall present themselves to the Excellencies of the Barony of Windmasters Hill, run the quintaine and rings scoring points for the strike and capture of three rings. Then the RIDERS shall be paired (posted in the call forward area) and run the tilt against each other consisting of 3 passes per each opponent.  See Scoring below.
 
Rules of Entry 
 
1. All RIDERs must be authorized Banneret and validate to Joust on Friday 17 April 2009, have rider pass armor inspection and successfully conduct three left shoulder passes in succession with two of the three passes the horse and rider remain in the tilt lane without veering. RIDERS must have received Joust training from competent members as per KEO of Atlantia Lady Ursula de Nunez. Kingdom and Society regulations apply prior to and during the day of the tournament. 
 
2. All RIDERs are encouraged to present a banner/ billet of their heraldry visible from 50 ft to be displayed for the gallery. (This need not be of period construction.). Please provide a means to display your heraldry. 
 
3. All RIDERs must notify LORD ALAIN DE LA ROCHELLE (Contact Information below) of their intent to compete no later than April 16th 2009 to insure proper arrangements for the tournament. 
 
 
 Scoring, secifications, Site Rules 
 
1. All RIDERS are responsible for their own horses (no rental horses available). Horses will be allowed to be kept on site. Owners must provide their own means of suitable containment for their horses.  
 
2. All RIDERs must have their own armor and lances. Foam jousting tips will be provided. 
 
3. All lances shall be constructed per Society jousting regulations in regard to handle length and cardboard tube thickness. Lances shall be constructed so that once the foam tip is inserted to the required 2ft length the lance shall equal no more than 96 inches (8 feet) or no less than 84 inches (7 feet) forward of the Grand guard (hand).  Two inch in diameter cardboard tubes 36 inches in length are available.  
 
4. The list field will consist of a 100ft center barrier with an outside barrier on each side of the center for 25ft, creating a lane 8ft wide. There will be a minimum of 50ft of run out at each end of the barrier. A quintaine with shield suspended 5 ft in height and three rings (6 inch in diameter) suspended 7 feet in height.  Please school your horses accordingly. 
 
5. All RIDERs, must be on the list field no less than 15 minutes prior to the tournament procession to their Excellencies (8:45 am Saturday 18 April 2009), on the pain of disqualification. 
 
6. All equipment and armor must be in place with the ground crew prior to the tournament procession. 
 
   7. Scoring shall be as follows: 5 points per ring, 10 points per quintain strike, 1 point for a lance legal break upon a shield or  (minus) -1 point for any hit delivered when opponent remain in start up area (first 15 ft of tilt-will be marked).
 
   8. All points will be scored by the MOL with assistance from Baroness Guenievre de Monmarche. All points earned will go toward collective points to team assigned at troll.
