Hi there,
That event sounds like fun, and I like the pillow-fish thing.
However, being an assassin at an event with an assassination theme is one thing, and being an assassin as your persona is a whole different thing. (And I don't mean to imply that you don't see the difference, only that it's not stated.)

Overall, would have to agree with the general negative sentiments about assassins and pirates as far as personas go (especially pirates....)
However, I must say I have seen the "assassin game" played fairly successfully at my first Atlantian event, Dun Carraig's Challenge of the Heart in spring of 2004.
As best I recall there was some form of token to indicate participation in the game, and the available assassination methods all involved some form of token (representative of the manner of death) that you had to get your target to accept, if unwittingly. For example, my first step into victimhood has at the hands of a lovely young lady who feigned needing a spare hand for something, and asked me to hold a small pillow she was carrying. Being the courteous sort, I complied, at which point she asked me to turn it over. I did so, and on the reverse side was a picture of a fish, indicating that I was now "sleeping with the fishes". She then directed me to speak with Baron Aelfgar from Lochmere, who was serving as "Godfather" for the game, who recorded the deed and proceeded to hand me an assignment to use the same token to gather my own victim.
At the end of the day his cohort, Baron Corum (if I recall correctly) channeled his Sicilian side and presented the results of the game in the evening court. The winner of the game was presented with his prize before Their Excellencies, and was then escorted out a side door. A large "ka-thwack" was heard, followed by a cry of (simulated) pain. A good laugh was had by the assembled throng, and the winner slid back in thru a back door to rejoin the gathering.
Everyone involved seemed to have a good time, and nobody upset that I can recall.

Is it not a natural rule that where one person's fun ends, another's
begins? And is it not true that for a person to be an assassin, they must
assasinate someone? And therefore, their playmate (the victim) gets their fun
ended by the assassin...
I believe back in those "good ol' daize" we ended up with events
where everything was poisoned and everyone got stabbed or garotted or tagged.
Alot of people got very pissed and quit.
I think assassins belong in the orchard with the pirates. Hanging from the
trees.
