Ah, and this is an issue Chatelaine's deal with all the time.

My advice is to pass on the general "feeling" of assassins and how they are welcomed in our society to your friend. Make sure he understands that this is a medieval recreation society, not an RPG, a LARP or a Ren Faire.

If after all of that you fail in your endeavor my best advice to you is to let him learn on his own. Don't stress on the situation. There are lots of people that show up to their first few events in garb that is down right horrid. But, they made it... they are proud and they are trying to fit into our world. Eventually they will mold their own place with us and look back on their early days and think, "Oh my GOD! What the HELL was I thinking?!"

This really is no different that everyone wanting to be a Prince or a Princess of some distant land when they develop their persona. Same meat, different sauce. Don't let it stress you or worry you. If your friend is serious about wanting to learn and embrace our culture the wrinkles in his persona and perception will get ironed out.

Best of luck to you,

-Shae
