[MR] Assassins

Friends,

I have to agree with Rikker and McKenna that assassins are probably a
poor idea. The SCA is supposedly about recreating the "good parts" of
the middle ages: chivalry, feasts, tournaments, crafts, etc. Although
they are fit topics for study, plagues, autos-de-fe, beheadings, and
yes, assassins, are not numbered among the "good parts" upon which
concentrate our time and efforts.

The people I play with in Isenfir, and most (and I do say "most") of the
people I've met in the SCA, are wonderfully helpful, friendly and great
companions. I would hate to have this spoiled by negativity and suspicion.

When I had my first frustrating brush with the heralds over my proposed
name and device, I considered resubmitting my name as "Duncan the
Crabby" or "Fergus, Flayer of Heralds". Upon reflection, I realized this
would win me no friends, and wisely chose another name. Let's hope our
new friend finds other more uplifting interests to develop during
his/her time among us.

Kind regards,

All of these things unexpected in a drink are a health hazard and dangerous. I have partisipated in Assassin tourneys though when everyone was aware the game was being played. No lack of warning and the object had to be large enough to be safely caught in the mouth or a piece of paper stuck to the bottom of a glass. Safety first.
