   While I agree with Macenna that Assassins are probably a bad Idea,  I would like to point out that the reason we started moving away from the idea was not the despicable nature of the personna,  It was because several people had to be hospitalized due to choking on whatever was used as a "poison" (small pack of salt, a pebble(broken tooth), a bean).  All of these things unexpected in a drink are a health hazard and dangerous.  I have partisipated in Assassin tourneys though when everyone was aware the game was being played.  No lack of warning and the object had to be large enough to be safely caught in the mouth or a  piece of paper stuck to the bottom of a glass.  Safety first.  
    The original call for the society read ".....From any society that used the sword".  When it started to be only western european I don't know.

When all is said and done,the less said and the more done the better!
