Baron Achbar,
While I do not necessarily agree that an assasin would be bored in the society, I do agree with most of the rest of your thoughts.  My points was simply do not judge any one "persona" by one example of that type of "persona."  My personal opinion is let the new comer come as whatever they desire that might have existed in period and discover from what we have to offer and what they find on their own, just what they wish to do/be as they fall in love with the Dream.  Or if we are not their cup of tea at least they will take away fond memories of us. Lie du Bosc

My question is this, how would you incorporate an assassin into the
SCA and not leave the person bored?  When I think of Assassins, I am
more comfortable with this as a class in a Role Playing game,e of some
sort.  There are many LARPs that would be happy to  have as many
Assassins as they can get.  http://www.nerolarp.com/  is a fine
organization and I encourage people with a hunger for fantasy to join
and make this an enjoyable past time.
The bigger picture I see is assisting new people in the SCA and
getting them used to what we are already doing in this wonderful
hobby.  There are many enjoyable things to keep a person busy in the
SCA.  No doubt Atlantia has changed allot since I have joined the SCA
and as such activities come and go.  Sad to say, the SCA is not all
things to all people. We do the best we can and hope for the best.
My first thought is to get any new person to an event and let them
know what we are doing and not discourage them by any means.  If the
so called assassin wants to enjoy the SCA, history offers many models,
I don't believe I can count them all.  My sick mind goes into many
different directions as to how I would make assassination a fun
activity in the SCA and not make it pain for others.
So, let us keep this person busy with current SCA activities.  There
is no doubt in my mind that something will grab this new person's
attention and make the SCA fun.  Failing that, I have friends in NERO,
SOLARZ and Avalon, we will find the right game for this person if the
SCA fails.
