[MR] Professional training at Pennsic

Greetings All 

I am trying to get to Pennsic for the first time in the past 2 decades.  When I last went there was not that much offered other than fighting.  I am a 7th grade life science teacher and of course our pre-school teacher work week is the last week of Pennsic.  I have talked to my principal about it and he says that he could do it as professional leave if I write something up showing him the value of going to Pennsic.  I was wondering if any teachers out there have found a way around this problem and might have some ideas that would be found acceptable to a principal.  I have a slight in (I think?) as he used to be a middle school science teacher.   
 I would appreciate any assistance that you could lend to this.
