 Lets remember this is tv... if they used historic outfits in half the movies dont think anyone would watch...should just be thankfully its not the tifoil outfits of some movies past...

I'm a Laurel, but not a costuming Laurel.  One of my favorite periods of
European history is that of the Tudors.  So,needless to say, I've been
pretty horrified with the liberties that they've taken with these series.
They really should publish a disclaimer about how the show bears no
resemblance to real history.

So far as the costuming is concerned, it appears to me (and if I'm wrong I
hope some costumers will correct me) that is is a melange of a number of
different periods.  I see hats that belong on ladies in a Fragonard painting
(18th c.), gowns that range from early Tudor (Henry VII) to Elizabethan,
hair styles that are more 20th century than 16th.  The ladies-in-waiting
that you mention probably, IMHO, be dressed identically.  The Queens may
have required a certain amount of decorum, but I doubt that they dressed
them all the same.  The hats that you reference are again at least 18th
century.

Understand, I'm not foaming at the mouth.  I'm just remembering how much
more accurate the costumes in the BBC's production of "The Six Wives of
Henry VIII", a 6 part series broadcast on PBS a number of years ago.  I am
very disappointed in this current series.
