It's been an extended thread and I may have missed it...

But while we're pointing out reasons why groups might want to opt out of 
hosting crown, I have to believe that there are groups who would love to bid 
on hosting a Kingdom level event, but haven't done so because they don't 
have a site in their "territory." IMO a permanent site for Crown will be 
_more_ inclusive, not less.

And to reiterate on another point: Yes, there are difficulties hosting an 
event at a site remote from the group, but while I might take exception to 
HRM's assertion that they are "easily" solved, none-the-less they _are_ 
solvable with planning and forethought--been there, done that.  And it does 
not require participation from the local group.

As HRM notes, it's still early in the discussion to worry about the 
mechanics, but when the time rolls around to where it's appropriate to start 
discussing them, I have a boatload of suggestions from notes made when I did 
it.
