Sejant (from Middle French seant) : animal/creature is seated with forelegs down and together. Tail is up by default if it has one.

Lucien's Digest Version: Think of an obedient dog when commanded to "sit".

Sejant erect:  animal/creature is seated, but has forelegs off ground as if attacking. Tail is still up.

Lucien's Digest Version: Think of a kitten when sitting and offered something to bat around.
