not sure how many ways we can address these "concerns". again.... its
simple to produce a website with videos and descriptions of all aspects of
the site, any site. crown is as easy an event to run as an event can be and
requires nothing from any local (to the site) group. asking someone you
know (if you cant do it yourself) to pick up some supplies for a feast in a
kitchen as well stocked as this one is nothing. i also doubt that any of
this has anything to do with the fiscal health of any far reaching groups in
the kingdom as they clearly arent all relying on the two crown tourneys a
year to keep them afloat. and if groups, meaning an entire barony, shire,
or stronghold, do not "like who is currently sitting on the throne" we have
a huge issue of insular politics and petty behavior since i cant imagine
that every member of such a group has actually had personal interaction with
the current monarchs. if there is a group that is this juvenile in their
thinking then they certainly should opt out of ever hosting an event.
holding events is a service to the people in the sca and should always be
viewed as such. to suggest that a few folks petty politics would keep an
entire group from hosting a crown tourney is very saddening. if such a
group really exists i would hope they would just hold private little
gatherings and let the rest of the kingdom and the sca alone.

The problem that I have noticed in recent yrs. has been the lack of groups
willing to host kingdom level events, because either they don't like who is
currently sitting on the throne, or the group, who ever they are, were not
in a position with the kingdom to hold a kingdom level event. Even though
they had the enthusiasum to do so. I for one don't want to host an event
over on the other side of NC or in VA, or MD and not know anything about the
site, & have to travel hours to do so. Not to mention having to depend on
someone from another group to provide food stuff for the feast or anthing
else for that matter. This in my opinion, doesn't help out the far reaching
groups to stay financially sound and will in the long run over work the
groups who are going to have to fill in, if the hosting group doesn't, won't
or can't provide the needed personnel to work the event. Just soemthing to
think about. YIS Senora Dorothea M. Ponce
