If no one minds a Trimarian transplant chipping in, I would recommend
talking with the Trimarian Seneschal Master Richard. Trimaris has held
centrally-located Kingdom events for many years (mostly between the
Orlando/Ocala areas), with the only changes in the sites being primarily
due to SCA population growth or changes in policies at a given site
location.

For most of my former shire/barony (Oldenfeld) in Tallahassee, or for
our southern groups near Miami the average drive times were between 5 to
7 hours to get to the central site(s). Setup logistics were
occasionally a real challenge, but in many cases that was overcome by
multiple groups teaming up to submit a bid, and the groups split the
profits post-event. Overall, I think it was the best system considering
the distances involved crossing Florida. With an average 8 to 10 hour
drive from one end of Trimaris to the other, the central site was the
least of the overall evils and the Trimarian big-four events usually
averaged between 500 and 700 attendees during my time as kingdom
constable years ago.

right now)
