and ive been stuck in traffic just north of charlotte on a friday afternoon
around lake norman for hours, not to mention the 7 hours we spent trying to
get through dc on our way to crusades a few years ago in a heavy rain with a
minor fender bender in front of us. really? what is the point i wonder in
all of this? i mean if your argument is that its better to have a crown
list near dc because of this very long stretch of 55 mph roads and its
traffic lights and the traveling through areas that cant regulate their
local traffic you actually make it less likely that anyone would want to
agree to host an event in that area. i mean, if i have to drive 7 hours to
get to a section of horrible traffic coupled with slow speed limits, not to
mention a lot of traffic lights, then why on earth would i want to subject
the rest of the kingdom to all of that mess before i accept a bid to host a
crown tourney in that area?? really, why would anyone think thats a good
idea if better than 90% of the kingdom map doesnt share these problems and
wouldnt know the work arounds like the local folk would?? i certainly
wouldnt.

I'm happy to call BJP's area as being in the central area of the kingdom.

However, according to Google, BJP is 369 miles from Elkton MD by the
shortest route -- and that route includes a *very* long stretch where the
speed limit is 55, at least two other stretches where the speed limit is
well under 55 and there are lots of traffic lights, and also requires
traveling through one of the six worst traffic areas in the USA. Google
says it takes 6 hours 50 minutes to make this trip; speaking from
experience I think that's a bit optimistic.

That's not to say it isn't a reasonably central site. It is. I just wanted
to clarify the drive time.
