[MR] Permanent Event Site for Crown

One thing that has NOT been really mentioned in discussion, but probably
should be, is that of all Atlantia's kingdom events Crown is the only one
that MUST have fighting. And the need for the space for at least one list
and preferably more than one list as well as site ownership which has no
issues with fighting at their site definitely creates issues when one is
searching for sites. That has always been true and in some areas it is a
particularly severe constraint.

Then you add in the scheduling constraint of an event which normally has to
be on the first weekend of May and the first weekend of November.

If you then add in the desire to make the event affordable for more
attendees by having on-site accommodation, the number of available sites
dwindles even further. (Bear in mind that there was for a while a series of
kingdom events that required that most attendees stay at a motel at a cost
of an additional $100-200, depending on location, which put a real strain on
the budgets of those of us who had to attend to provide essential services
or simply to participate in the business of the kingdom!)

That being the case, it would seem to me that Crown is definitely the best
event to start with for using fixed sites. Incidentally, a lot of these
considerations were part of why Pennsic ended up initially contracting with
Cooper's Lake and why it has stayed there for so many years.

And I lived with a central fixed site for Crown for some years back in the
1970's when I lived in Meridies so can attest to the advantages of a known
site for an event like Crown. (But the 4 H camp is a LOT nicer than the Boy
Scout camp in Alabama that was calculated to be central to Meridies --- for
one thing it has indoor plumbing, windows instead of not-very-insect-proof
screens and heat which is especially nice in November!)
