Thank you Adeliza for breaking your thoughts down so clearly. You really covered the topics that I was pondering wonderfully. (Any word on the baby??)
I think that this suggestion has a lot of merit. It has been hard to get bids in consistently and having a set site (or back up site) in my opinion would be a great help in getting new bids in. In my interpretation of the proposal as stated, it sounds like this site will be regularly available so if there is not an appropriate site in your area, you can still host a large event.
I feel confident that their Majesties (and the Kingdom Officers) do not want to leave out any area of the Kingdom in hosting events. When new sites are found that are suitable and are willing to agree to contracts with us, those sites could be added into the site list and the events could be rotated. I think that Betsy Jeff Penn was just available and willing to work out this idea with us and it allows us a place to start testing the idea.
I am also confused about this $1500.00 profit "rule". I thought that at a previous curia during Logan and Rowan's reign the Kingdom Exchequer explained that all costs and fees of running the event had to be paid first so that no losses would be accrued by the host group and ONLY THEN would a portion of the profit go to the Kingdom. So I kind of though that if you made money, then a portion of that profit went to the kingdom. I did not think that there was a set amount given. So maybe our Kingdom Exchequer can clarify this for all of us who seem to have different interpretations of this.
It is good that folks have opinions and comments. That is the very reason the idea was shared on this list. So please, keep them coming! The more input their Majesties and the Seneschal are given, the better prepared they are to make a decision that is appropriate for the Kingdom.
