Not so much guessing.

The game was invented out of whole cloth by Mistress Alizounde de Bregeuf, aka Una for a post revel in Carolingia, AS 8, as a medieval-oid version of "spin the bottle".

There's a message in the Florilegium entry for 'Cloved Fruit' that mentions the game had become unpopular in Atlantia by 1995. This horse is mummified.
