We all know the Women of Hawkwood are formidable. But are you strong
enough to compete with the Manly Beards of the Men of Hawkwood? Bring
your best beard and come enjoy a spring rite of passage as Hawkwood
celebrates its Baronial Birthday and offers up the competition of
BEARD WARS! It’s sure to be a day full of fun, frolic, fighting and
rampant beard jokes!
Martial Activities: List opens at 10:00; Beardly melees will ensue at
noon! A timed (30 min) Resurrection Sheep Raid. There will be three
categories of sheep: white, black, and female. White sheep are one
point. Black sheep are two points. Female sheep are three points. At
the end of 30 min whoever has the most points wins. The scenario will
be run at least twice, and three times if a tie-breaker is needed.
Scenario is the same for armored and rapier combatants. Combat archery
is allowed; siege weaponry is not.
Arts & Sciences: A&S competitions will be held in the following categories:
- Period combs
- Best beard
- Brewing (beers, wines & cordials)
- Best use of hide

Make Checks Payable To: SCA, Inc., Barony of Hawkwood
Cost Notes: Children 5 and under are guests of the Barony, but MUST
have a reservation if occupying a seat during feast. Feast is sold by
SEAT, not age! Non-member adults must add $3 to the above prices. All
refund requests must be received IN WRITING within 7 days of the end
of the event. The only true reservation is a PAID reservation! Include
email address for confirmation.
Site: Lutheridge Conference Center, 28 Spruce Drive, Arden, N.C.
28704. (828) 684-2361. The site is wet. No pets allowed. Parking only
in designated areas. Site opens Friday (April 17) at 5:00 pm and
closes Sunday (April 19) at 11:00 a.m.
Feast: A scrumptious and delightful feast will be prepared by Lord
Vladimir Krisa. Dietary concerns should be addressed to
vlad at seraphichaos.com
Feast is limited to 75 seats/chairs.

Directions:

Find your best route to I-26, exit 40, Airport Road exit. Coming from
the north/west, turn left at the ramp onto Airport Road. Coming from
the south/east, turn right at ramp onto Airport Road. Follow Airport
Road until it junctions with Hendersonville Road. Turn right onto
Hendersonville Road. The entry to Lutheridge is less than a quarter
mile on the right on Hendersonville Road. Signs will be posted (we
hope!).
