I don't think anyone did post about this. Since we're about the same
vintage, it'd be interesting (to me) to see what the custom was, in
your experience.
And I, too, remember cloven fruits being passed around in my youthful
days when the majority of people were single, and germs weren't
nearly as much of an issue. The funniest example was a cloved
grape. Single use cloven fruit *g*
A cloved orange was in someone's hands at last Twelfth Night feast,
but if it was making the rounds, I didn't notice it.
