On an unusually hot autumn day, the thirteenth day of September, I did raise my pennant and stand Tenan for the glory of my Lady Wife and the celebration of thrity-five years in harness.
There came before me seven courteous fighters, six of whom I met in contention a plaisance. Five received a token of my Lady Wife and wrote in the Book of the Deed. The sixthe had met me before with different weapons, and fought for the joy of it. One of those who came forth had lived as long as I have fought, though he had taken up the practice of arms just over a year ago.
One challenge I had to decline with regret, for the gentle told me he did not serve any King, and so in compliance with the terms of my Deed I could not meet him therein. We agreed to fight outside the context of the Deed later on, but while fighting another he suffered an armour failure and so we were not able to trade blows.
I salute all who came forth. The day was so hot that the regular fighting was cut short. May your valour bring honour to you all.
Your servant aye,
Donal Mac Ruiseart, O. Pel.
Squire to Viscount Tojenareum Grenville of Devon (TJ)
