There has been a "Virtual Museum of Medieval Archaeology" on-line with
pictures from many museums posted by Michael Fuller and Neathery Fuller. In going
through their wonderful pictures, I discovered two captions that were
incorrect. Knowing how important correct historical information is for
researchers, reenactors, etc., I wrote to Mr. Fuller and pointed the two discrepancies
out.

One was that the pottery from a Crusader castle in the Middle East was made
by Arabic/local artisans rather than "possibly Crusader made" (or words to
that effect).

The second was that a piece of "Egyptian knitting" was actually nalbinding.

I was polite; I was factual.

In response to the first, Mr. Fuller wrote back, "And which Crusader sites
and castles have you personally excavated and analyzed?"

My response was, "Goodness, I am surprised at your questions. I did not
mean to offend, simply to point out that the crusaders didn't actually make that
pottery. Certainly, it was found in their sites and castles as they used it
extensively. Thank you again for your wonderful photos. They are a
valuable asset on-line."

In response to the second, Mr. Fuller responded, "I have removed all of my
web pages linked to the Fuller Virtual Museum and noted that SCAdians should
address all their questions to you."

Needless to say, I have been baffled by these responses. And you can
imagine my anger upon going to the web page --
_http://users.stlcc.edu/mfuller/sca/sca.html_ (http://users.stlcc.edu/mfuller/sca/sca.html) -- and reading the
following.
"Michael Fuller and Neathery Fuller are professional archaeologists/college
professors with 30 years experience in Medieval Archaeology in the Middle East
and Europe. Continued complaints about inaccuracies in the museum captions
for the artifacts have led me to remove these pages. I bow to the expertise
of Nancy Spies, Arelate Studio _www.weavershand.com/ArelateStudio.html_
(http://www.weavershand.com/ArelateStudio.html) Ingvild Josefsdatter, OL Kingdom
of Atlantia."

I have several questions that I please need answered.

1. Why is Mr. Fuller reacting like this and why is he so angry at having a
couple minor caption problems pointed out? Is he not a scholar who values
correct information for research? This is really bothering me.

2. How would you suggest I go about getting that nasty message and my
personal information removed from his web page? I would prefer to avoid legal
measures but will go that route if need be.

3. It is grossly unfair to everyone that he, well, childishly removed all
the pictures and links from the web page. How can this resource be returned
to all of you?

I am flummoxed by this whole thing. Please respond privately to me if you
have any insights and suggestions. Thank you.
