      Gracious Greetings all,

It is I your friendly Midnight at the Oasis Autocrat with some updates on the event (which is September 19-21 if you forgot).

First, many of you may have noticed already but if you look at the Atlantian calendar you will see that Midnight is now an official Royal Progress. Yay! We are honored to host their Majesties for what is expected to be a great inaugural event!

In addition we also expect to have a great number of new comers at the event including at least three belly dance troupes (who will be performing), and a medieval studies class from Duke University. That may be as many as 80 new comers not including the ones you bring with you. Therefore I am requesting as much hospitality help as possible from all of our wonderful members. A friendly smile, direction, and general courtesy will go a long way toward presenting a good impression of the SCA, the Kingdom, and the Barony to all those in attendance. I would also like to ask that if you have extra chairs and shade under your pavilions that you might invite wayward wonderers to join your marvelous company. If you have old garb, mugs, feast gear, etc. that you would like to loan out, or give to a new comer please, please contact Marion the Red at the event or prior to by emailing her at marionred at gmail.com. With so many new comers planning to attend, this is a great opportunity for us all to put our best foot forward and welcome them to our way of life. I thank you for your efforts in this matter.

In relation to the number of new comers that are coming, I would like to remind everyone that we have a limited number of feast spaces available and in order to secure your feast space we need a paid reservation. Please see the website for information on sending a reservation as well as updated menu for feast. http://home.nc.rr.com/eogan/mato2008/index.htm

Finally, I still have a few staffing needs if any of you would be so gracious as to help make sure this wonderful event goes off with out a hitch. First, due to a family emergency I am in need of a lead Cry Herald for the event, and volunteers to cry during the event. Also, I am in need of someone to volunteer to be in charge of kitchen clean up after lunch and after dinner, as well as several industrious individuals who will assist me in making sure that our wonderful cooking staff does not have to touch a pot nor pan after the meal is completed. If you are able to assist me in any of these endeavors I implore you to contact me so that I can give you more information. Please feel free to write me at this address or to call at 919-779-1680.

Thanks again to everyone for you help in making this first Midnight at the Oasis a fun success. We look forward to seeing you all there.

      In service,

      Jodocus Menig

      PS. Don't forget your camels.
