A grinder is a sub sandwich (or, if you were in Officer Candidate's School the paved area where we practiced close order drill). If you want a milkshake, order a frappe (pronouced frap). A cabinet is a coffee frappe, I believe, though I never had one of those.
Note that these are Rhode Island terms only. They don't apply to the whole of New England. Briana
