looking at the five day cone for Hanna is looking more like she is coming in around Hilton head and heading for greenville, SC and then to the Asheville, NC areas, so cross your fingers for coronation. if you live in those areas, get ready. make hotel reservations inland now, because most hotels will let you cancel by 4-6pm day of arrival, so making them early will not only give you peace of mind, but can save you money. Lots of hotels will not accept discounts such as AAA or AARP, when they think they may book up, and some even raise their rates. Remember, not only do evacuees use hotel rooms, but emergency crews and news media book in advance as well. Also fill up with gas now, as this will no doubt go up as oil companies use any excuse to gouge us even more. 
The rest of us, yes the Atlantic looks like a runway of trouble, so everyone should have their food, water and batteries and clothing for themselves and pets ready this week. You know I am ready. FEMA's site has a list of what you will need. www.fema.gov. under "Hurricane preparedness."  
Speaking of pets, find out what hotels accept pets where you may have to evacuate to, call the hotel directly, as policies change, and get copies of your pet's vaccination records from your vet to have with you.
