Good Friends,
Firstly, I know some of you will receive this multiple times...I beg your
pardon!
Starting on October 19, there will be an exhibit at the Walters Gallery in
Baltimore, MD entitled "Bedazzled: 5000 Years of Jewelry." I'm not sure
when it is closing, but they have pictures of some of the items in the
exhibit and it looks like they will have a fair number of pieces from our
period. Also, starting February 15, "The St. John's Bible: A Modern Vision
through Medieval Methods." While this is a modern work, any C&I folks may
enjoy seeing what other modern calligraphers and illuminators are doing.
If you haven't been to the Walters, you are missing a real gem...their
Medieval collection is an incredibly fine one and is presented in a very
period-type setting. Their reputation is such that they are one of the very
few places to be allowed to display The Book of Kings from the Pierpont
Morgan Library some years back when it had been taken apart to be
photographed and conserved.
I hope you'll be able to see it if you're in the area...
Kiri
