It had been my hope to stand the Deed both on Friday and Saturday, but a bit of bad luck prevented me from do so on Friday. I entered the Torchlight Tourney Friday evening and announced my intent to stand the Deed afterwards. But a blow to the head drove part of my visor into my forehead and gave me an "armour bite" that looked much worse than it was - scalp wounds bleed profusely - and as it was right above my left eye, I had to withdraw from the Tourney and apologize to those who might have met me in the Deed that evening.

Having re-arranged the padding in my helm, I was able, on Saturday afternoon, to stand the Deed. And in that wise I met ten noble and worthy Atlantians, among their numbers an Earl and a man of only a score of years in age and less than a year in experience. He was my last match, and so impressed was I with the spirit and energy with which he fought, and with his quiet zeal, that I asked my Lady Wife to present him with one of the gold tokens that thitherto had been given to those of much more mature years.

At Court that afternoon, Their Majesties granted me a bit of time in which I placed the Pennant, the Book, and the remaining Tokens in a box decorated with the cognizance of the Deed (an anchor environed of the Roman numeral XXXV) and presented the box to my Lady Wife, who has been my support and inspiration for the thirty years we have been together, and who I pray will continue to inspire and support me for however more years the Good Lord grants to us.

Your servant aye
Donal Mac Ruiseart
