I've only done troll once, so I wouldn't call myself 'experienced' ...
but I was mentioned, so I'll respond:

The answer:   No   as in, No you don't need to.   Many events DO happen
to do that, as a way to give a 'benefit' to those who were pre-regged
and therefore have a shorter line.

However, that's also often backfired.  I've been at many events where
the 'pre-reg' line was long, and other folks were just walking up to the
front of the 'non-reg' line quickly.

It just comes down to what you have, who you have helping, and what
works best for ya.
