Did you read the article? It's a one-sided history of the Mongols' wars with
the Muslims. It certainly doesn't correspond to western views of the Mongols,
and omits the Mongols' attack on Europe, which had not provoked them.
Moreover, it treats Muslims and Christians as natural allies, which would be a
surprise to Russia and Eastern Europe (Poland, Hungary, Austria, Northern
Italy, the Balkans) which occurred 10 or more years before the attacks on
Syria.
The article also seems to call for using Mongol tactics to destroy Islam. I
doubt whether western democracies could practice thirteenth century warfare
even if they wanted to. Genocide got a bad name in the 20th century.
