My favorite reply is from my squire (Hi, Avery!):
Q: Are you in a play?
A: Yeah, "West Side Story".  We're the Sharks.
The gutsiest reply was when Midrealm Duke Moonwulf and HRH Nathan went to a convenience store to get some last
minute items before Coronation feast.  Wulf was in Viking furs and leather, Nathan was in Tudor satin finery.  A little old
lady in the store asked, "Why are you dressed like THAT?"
(non-PC warning!)
Moonwulf answered politely, "We're in a historical organization, yada yada yada.....  And when I'm dressed like this, I'm a 
9th century Viking, and when he's dressed like this, he's a fag."
Nathan tried to strangle Wulf.
