My favorite occurence was when myself and a friend of mine went to see Lord
of the Rings in full chainmail, peace-tied blades and surcoats. I went for a
smoke break in front of the theater and this eight year old boy happened
upon me and Jim after we had finished smoking. He looked up at us as we
pretended to look bewildered. When he asked why we were dressed so funny,
Jim replied,
"Young lad, what year is this?" The boy replied with 2002 or something
like that.
"Lord Aldrich, I do believe that fog we rode into was some sort of time
portal.", I exclaimed.
"Aye indeed, but where in all the heavens are our horses?", he asked.
"I know not my Lord, but should we fail to find them", I replied, "we
shall indeed have a long walk to the tavern."
At the end of it all, the boy actually ended up believing that we were
temporally displaced knights.
I know, it was probably not nice to mess with the boy like that, but his
parents watching from a distance had a knowing smirk on their faces. They
apparently appreciated the joke.
I still love freaking the mundanes.
