The Cap'n speaks sooth.  This is conclusively shown by accident data, 
nationwide, over the past 40 years or more.
As I heard one idiot say, after pulling out from a stop sign, 
directly in front of a motorcycle doing about 45 mph: "Well, I saw 
him coming, but it was only a motorcycle!"
