Greetings unto the Tavern are sent by Lady Elishabeth D'Avignon and Baronesa Gracia Esperanca de Sevilla.
Bards of Atlantia, a challenge awaits you at this year's Sapphire Joust! The Royal Bards are sponsoring a Team Bardic Competition (yep.. you heard it right) for all who would take up the gauntlet.
It is evident that the bardic tradition is alive and well in fair Atlantia. We have seen evidence of this time and again from the ferocity of the competition at Twelfth Night on through Coronation and Tournament of Chivalry. Now, however, we would like to test your mettle in a slightly different venue. A Team Competition to be held at Sapphire Joust on Saturday May 24th Competition specifics are as follows and can also be found on our website at: http://bard.atlantia.sca.org
1.. Each team must consist of 2 - 5 bards; a spiffy team name is encouraged!
2.. The competition itself will take place in 5 rounds, with a five minute time limit
3.. Each round will have a different "theme."
4.. Have at least one period piece and written documentation ready.
5.. ALL performance types are welcome and encouraged
Round One: All members of team must be included in this performance
Round Two: Original Composition (does not have to be performed by the writer, but must be written by someone on the team)
Round Three: Piece must incorporate "Gems" in general.
Round Four: Period Piece (any format)- must have written documentation
Round Five: Open Round - Bring your best!
Are you up for the challenge?
For those who cannot make the Team Competition on Saturday, we will also be hosting our second Performance Workshop on Sunday afternoon. This workshop will include feedback on performances and discussions on method, documentation, and promotion of the bardic arts. Again, all forms of performance/performers are welcome! Times to be determined.
We look forward to seeing you all at Sapphire Joust!
Yours in Service and Song
