And please remember that scrolls have standard requirements/conventions
(http://scribe.atlantia.sca.org/handbook/index.htm)! If you are taking on
the completion of one for a dear friend, or even as your first foray into
the scribal arena with the desire to become a full-fledged scribe, please
contact Mistress Sunniva to ensure you are following the correct format, so
that your scroll CAN be signed and used! :-)

Subject: [MR] Backlog Explained

Someone mentioned that not everyone knows what the backlog database is. So
here is a brief explanation followed by links.

About a year ago, the Kingdom Webminister Cassandra and I got together and
brainstormed a way to update and improve the system for monitoring scrolls
for the Kingdom. She took my ideas and made them a reality.

We now have a database that tracks all award scroll status.
http://scribe.atlantia.sca.org/backlog/search.php

Until I enter information on an award, the scroll is marked as "Unknown".
Some of these are done, some are not. But I do not have any information on
them to change the status of them. You can now search here by typing in your

name and finding out the status for your scrolls.
http://scribe.atlantia.sca.org/backlog/search.php

Once I receive information, I enter it into the database. Scrolls then are
sorted into several categories. This is a little complicated to explain
here. There is a link to the Kingdom Policy that applies on the database
webpage. If you have questions about it please feel free to contact me.

The end result is a better database that scribes and others can now use to
see who needs a scroll made for an award. Then it is a matter of folks
volunteering to make someone a scroll.

Remember folks - it doesn't have to be a paint and paper scroll. It can be
on glass, in wood, embroidered, etc.

PLEASE if you want to do a scroll for someone - check the database then
EMAIL ME. I can then change the status to "assigned" and we won't have
duplicate scrolls made.

Thank you to everyone who helps this system get better and to all who decide

to do a scroll for someone else.
