I recognized a lot that Lady Marsaili mentioned that I would second. I
thought I'd add a few to the list. I thoroughly enjoyed the Mists of Avalon
and Priestess of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. I'm not as much of an
Arthurian Legend buff as others here, I'm sure...but I thought they were
good.
Also, anything by Lynn Kurland (my favorite author). There's time travel
in at least half of them, and they are much more on the romance side. But,
the historical culture is very convincing, if not accurate. Not much in the
way of historical events are even mentioned. They're really awesome
stories, and very humorous as well. I've never laughed so hard from reading
a book. (i.e. a medieval lord attempting to work a blender, forgets the
lid). I recommend reading her books in publishing date order...starting
with Stardust of Yesterday.
Regards,
Isolda
