I confess, as amusing as these stories are, I take no joy in "freaking the
mundanes."
When we were out to dinner on Saturday night after Sapphire Joust, the
gentleman busing the table asked why we were dressed the way we were, and my
response was "*We're with a group that does medieval and renaissance
reenactment, and are over at Tom Scott Park this weekend.*"
If we pride ourselves as an educational organization, I feel it is our duty
to inform, especially when asked, about what we do and why we are attired
the way we are. This does not mean that we must loose our sense of humor nor
go into a lengthy presentation, but that we need not belittle those who are
curious and brave enough to ask.
I charge you all to remember this when next asked, since we are each
ambassadors for the SCA and should be good ambassadors of the ideals we hold
so high.
Thank you,
Genevieve d'Aquitaine
