You know, that reminds me of a similar story about people dressed strangely in their "garb" in public.
 
Was working down on Peachtree for DragonCon one year and went down the street and over the crosswalk for lunch. Very quiet, mid morning. Making conversation, I asked the security guard if he'd seen anything interesting due to the con. He said, "No, what con?" Just then, I heard marching on the crosswalk, behind and past the guy. 
 
Klingons. About 40 of 'em. 
 
I figured Mr. Security was about to find out "What Con?" I just left him to his soon-to-be-relieved-of ignorance and sat back to watch the fun.
