Subject: [HF] Thank-yous for Collegium
To: highland-foorde at atlantia.sca.org
Unto all, doth Lady Cordeilla atte Black Starre and Lord Kedivor Tal
mab Cadwgan send greetings!
First, we would like to thank everyone who attended and missed those
unable to join us. Thank you to those who drove long distance. We
are grateful that weather was favorable. We hope everyone that is ill
with the bug makes a speedy recovery.
It is our hope that all who attended enjoyed the event as much as we
did! The food was beyond great! The atmosphere was energetic, warm
and welcoming! The diversified classes covered almost every aspect in
the Society!
This being the first Collegium held within our borders, we, as
Autocrats, wanted to see what the response would be and it was more
than we ever expected! There were many challenges for us as we went
through the planning and execution of the event.
We, never having autocrated an event such as this, had input and
suggestions from many people. Without this advice and direction, we
would never have been able to pull this off!
Lord Kedivor and I are part of a newly forming group within the Barony
of Highland Foorde. The event was conceived because some members of
the group wanted to learn other facets of the Society than what they
were currently exposed to. Some members wanted to teach while others
wanted to learn. From there, the call went out for teachers. We
would like to acknowledge the following people for instructing at this
event, in no specific order:
Duena Livia of Ravenswode - Duena Livia taught "Courtesy &
Courtliness", "The 3 Structures - Bureaucratic, Nobility & Households"
and "Atlantian Geography."
Lord Iain mac Pharlain - "Beginning Blazonry"
Lady Lucrezia di Francesca - "Pattern Making", "History of Food" and
"Past Times & Games in Period."
Lord Fergus of Hanna - "Chain Mail 101: Basic 4 in 1", "Chain Mail
102: Expanding Circles for Coifs", "Chain Mail 110: Basic Jewelry
Weaves."
Lady Elena di Salaparuta - "Simple Decorated Fabric Circlet Making"
Mistress Madeleine (we apologize for not knowing your full name, as it
is not listed on the Baronial Order of Precedence) - "Feastocratting -
for Fun or Profit"
Lord Kedivor Tal mab Cadwgan - "Name Construction/Documentation",
"Armorial Display"
Erik of Highland Foorde - "Leather Working - Basic Wet Shaping,
Molding & Form Techniques"
Mistress Jeanne Tenneur de Bec - "Hands-On Calligraphy - what you need
to know to get started"
Maestro Filipia Cupbreaker - "Stitches of the Bayeaux Tapestry"
Lord Ed the Tinker - "Inkle Weaving"
Baroness Isbella Stere - "Fingerloop Braiding"
Sir Gaius Tascius Severus Fabianus - "Basic Fighter Techniques &
Resources"
Master Chirhart Blackstar - "Gold Leafing"
Lady Daniela Schwartzhaupt - "The Illuminated Letter"
Rowena of Snowdun - "Introduction to Belly Dancing"
We would like to commend Lord Adam of Erin and Emrys ap Morgan for
offering to instruct. These individuals were ill and unable to teach.
We hope that in the future they will consider volunteering again.
Next, we would like to thank those who sat the Gate. At our humble
request, Lord Morgant Capellanus, our new Baronial Exchequer,
enthusiastically took command of the Gate and recruited assistants:
Lady Thyra Beiskaldi Olafsdottir, with her prior experience and m'lady
Jacintha, an excited new member of the barony.
Lady Katherine O'Carroll coordinated the potluck meals. Can anyone
ever say enough about those who run the kitchen? We know that we can
always count on her to serve a magnificent table. She spent the
entire event in the kitchen!
At this event, we unveiled the craftsmanship of newly created
backdrops that the owners graciously allowed to be used, with the
possibility of them being donated at a later date. We would like to
recognize Erik of Highland Foorde for his artistic ingenuity in
creating the frames and Maestro Filipia Cupbreaker for graciously
accepting the monumental task of sewing the drapes for the backdrops.
We would to also thank, Sir Gaius Tascius Severus Fabianus for
stepping in at the last minute and offering to fill in for an
instructor who left ill.
We would like to thank Baron Llewellyn gan Barfog, Baroness Isbella
Stere and Lord Ed the Tinker for hosting Baronial Arts & Sciences
Championship Competition. We would also like to congratulate Lady
Elena di Salaparuta, who was chosen as the new Baronial A & S
Champion.
Thank you to all who assisted in setting up and cleaning after this
event! Never are these individuals thanked enough. We are truly
grateful for those who assisted with these tasks.
Our purpose in holding this Collegium was to determine the interest in
learning and availability of instructors in the hopes of continuing
this event. It is a strong possibility that this event will occur
again next year. Lord Kedivor and I are extremely pleased and look
forward to participating in the progression of the learning arts in
the Society, in the Kingdom, in the Barony and in our local interest
group.
As with all events, there are those that are the silent supporters.
For those that we forgot to thank, please know that without you and
the others in this letter, this event would not have been a success!
In Service to the continuing education of the Society, the Kingdom,
the Barony and the local interest group of Gryffons Vale,
Lady Cordeilla atte Black Starre
And
Lord Kedivor Tal mab Cadwgan, CLA
