Gentle greetings all,
Attached below is the most recent flyer for Their Highness Coronation. A schedule and other details will follow in the next couple weeks. A few things to know right now is that if you have not mailed your reservations for feast already or Monday at the latest, odds are that you will not get on to dinner at this point. It would be best to reserve off feast and inquire regarding the wait list once you reach site. There is an entire strip of restaurants very near the site, so obtaining food should not be a problem for those who can't get on to feast.
There is a kids' feast being offered for free! All we need is your child's name so we can have a proper head count. You don't have to have gotten on-board for your child/ren to enjoy dinner with their freinds. Please let us know ASAP that we can expect some kid's for dinner!
All space in any deluxe cabins was sold out almost three weeks ago now. There is till room in the bunkhouses, which are quite nice. Please remember when reserving that you either pay fees to stay on site OR fees to day-trip, not both. Day=trip fees are exactly that, they are not site fees.
Pavilion space is *not* unlimited, in fact, it is down to precious little left. If you plan to bring a pavilion or dayshade and have not already communicated with me, please let me know immediately. There may not be any space for it.
If there are any questions or if I can help anyone, feel free to get in touch! I have confirmed the receipt of reservations for all those who have given me a way too, so far. If I managed to overlook you, just drop me and e-mail and I'll look it up.
In your service,
Baroness Adeliza
Event Steward
Coronation of Sinclair Hawkins & Kari Kyst
April 4th-6th, 2008
Louise IX of France has died before Edward I of England could join his Crusade, so Edward has launched his own ninth Crusade into the Holy Land himself. In a time when the Crusades were drawing to an end and the Holy Land was plagued with unrest, an opportunity of peace and great celebration has come again to our Kingdom. Atlantia calls home all those who are able to answer, be they Crusader, warrior, artisan, laborer or supporter. Let it resound throughout the Lands to come to the Barony of Hawkwood to witness the Royal Coronation of Sir Sinclair Hawkins and Baroness Kari Kyst.
Site: Camp Pinnacle; 4080 Little River Road, Hendersonville, NC 28739. Site opens 6pm on Fri.; closes 12pm on Sun. No personal pets allowed. Fire only in pre-existing pit, if weather allows. Alcohol allowed per mundane and SCA rules/laws. Most all amenities are within ten minutes of site.
Martial and Other Activities: A quest reminiscent of the journey to the Crusades is planned for all to enjoy. Fighting, both armored and rapier, will be a part of this quest, as will target archery. Bring *all* your armor and it will get used!
Youth Combat: There will be specifically a competition to help Their Highness choose the Youth Combat Champion for Their reign.
Arts &Sciences: Tempore Atlantias competition will focus on 1250-1492. Please contact Mistress Iseulte of the Red Cliffs (krista.moyerATgmailDOTcom) if you have questions regarding this specific competition.
Youth's competition: Best use of Spike in any medium. Young artisans of Atlantia, come show your skill and creativity by creating works of art featuring Spike. Entrants must be under the age of 17. Documentation not required (but always encouraged!)
Kingdom Award/Order medallions - Help spread the pageantry of Atlantia and display your creativity and skill in crafting award medallions depicting the Awards and Orders of Atlantia for Their Majesties to award during Their reign. No limit as to number of medallions, style or construction - all medallions submitted by an artisan will count as a single body of work/entry. No documentation required.
Best use of Chocolate - Chocolate has been around for almost 2000 years, from the discovery and use of the cocoa bean by the Maya to it's introduction to Europe by the conquering Spanish. Thank goodness you no longer need to be wealthy to enjoy it! Use this divine concoction to create sotleties or other creations featuring this fabulous "vegetable." Documentation, list of ingredients required.
Best use of Wool - Sponsored by the Company of the Silver Spindle of Atlantia. Wool has been used for centuries for everything from clothing to ships' sails and saddle pads. The Spinners of Atlantia love to spin woolen yarns, and are interested to see what other artisans can do with the product of our wooly friends. Documentation required.
Heraldry Consult Table: Get all your answers and submit your name and/or device in one stop! Mistress Alisoun MacCoul of Elphane will be offering this opportunity for all to take care of their heraldry needs. If you are a herald that would like to assist with the consult table, please contact Mistress Alisoun as soon as possible.
Feast: Dinner will be comprised of a tour down the path taken in order to travel to the Crusades, from a culinary point of view. Baron Thorgrimr inn Kyrri and his kitchen staff will prepare multiple dishes to delight the palate and gratify the tummy to contentment. Seating is tightly limited to 100 and cost $9.00 per person, so please reserve ASAP if you would like to take part in this demonstration of gastronomic excess.
A separate feast for young children will be offered free of charge. Their food will consist of hot-dogs/fishsticks, mac-n-cheese, green beans, and the like. This will be served during Their Majesties evening court and supervision will be provided. We *must* have a head count, however, so please pre-reserve space for your child to take part. Contact the Head Cook, Baron Thorgrimr at thorgrimrATbellsouthDOTnet all for questions regarding the feast.
