To me, one of his greatest moments is when he and I took a trip to AEthelmearc for an event three or four years ago. Just before feast began, I was standing there chatting with Bear about the days activities (there were no empty chairs in the feast hall). He noticed a lady that appeared exhausted looking for a place to sit. He asked me to help him up and over to a step, then to take his wheelchair over to the lady so that she would have a place to sit during feast. Just one more example of the kind of person he was.
Bear,
May you serve as well as an example to the Angels as you have to your fellow man.
In Loving Memory of our "Bearon",
Lucien

Subject: [CL] An Unexpected Passing
Greetings to All on this Feast Day of Patrick, Patron of Ireland, from Tiarna Eoin O'hEochaidh of Clann Lochlan.
It is with great sadness that I deliver terrible news.
This morning at 9:40, C. Edward Lawton, Jr., known in the Society of Creative Anachronism as Baron Artur "Bear" MacLochlainn, passed away unexpectedly while recovering from surgery at Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC. The immediate cause of death remains unknown at this time, pending an autopsy.
Memorial arrangements are also still pending. Updates will be posted as more information becomes available.
Lady Bronwen, his wife, would like all to know that the Biggest Heart in Atlantia has stopped beating and we all are lessened by its loss.
Yours In Sorrow,
Eoin
