Sorry, accidentally sent it private at first, so I am resending to the Tavern.... Helmut, I apologize for you getting it twice....
**laughing** While I am all for shoving a couple of 12 or 14 gauges in some people, in general, one of the things that I have seen commonly is that there are fighters who don't REALIZE they are in trouble until it's too late.... Hence the need for waterbearers.....

Being a Firefighter/EMT myself, and having been a heavy fighter for over 10 years, I do know that there have been times fighting large melees or what have you that I didn't even REALIZE that an hour or two has passed of heavy fighting, and I had consumed no water. I was so consumed and "caught up in the moment", that I was ready for the next charge at the shield wall, or over the bridge, or whatever the scenario was.... At that point, the dehydration had already started.  If it weren't for waterbearers over the years, I do believe there would be quite a few less fighters on many battlefields....

Just my two ducats on the table....

 Until the next,
Yours in service,

"But what happens to those fighters who are so used to having someone shove
water at them?  They forget and fall out from dehydration and heat stroke."

Then they evolve and become responsible for their own wellfare.  I'm a
professional firefighter/EMT.  Trust me, it only takes one time of being a
heat casualty to fix that problem.  We're all adults.  If a person doesn't
have enough sense to drink water when it's hot then they deserve to have two
large bore IV's pumping them full of fluids.  If I were on the scene I would
insist the medics use the largest needles available in the most painful
spots.
