[MR] The "Splitting Atlantia" discussion

Hello, I'm Tibbie Croser, who joined the Barony of Storvik and the SCA about
a year ago as a rapier fighter. I've been reading the Merry Rose for some
time but only recently subscribed.

The "Events/driving distances/principality/dividing Atlantia" discussion has
been fascinating. One issue that I don't think I've seen raised is the
effect on the martial disciplines that have smaller numbers of people than
armored fighting does: fencing, Cut and Thrust, archery, thrown weapons,
siege weapons, equestrian activities.

Would it be harder to sustain these activities on a regular basis if
Atlantia were divided? Would there be an effect on Arts and Sciences
disciplines as well?

Also, a question regarding peerages and awards. Does their prestige depend
on the size of the population in the kingdom? That is, does it mean more to
be a Knight or Laurel in a big (populous) kingdom than in a small one?

Very humbly,

Tibbie Croser
