Ok,

I am a Pearl, and I have no real idea how I was selected.  I know a fair amount of information concerning armouring in general, leather working in particular.  I share it every way I know how.  I teach workshops in my shop, I talk to folks about armour at events, I make a great deal of armour...(its what I do for a living)....

I have never taught a formal class in Atlantia.  Not one, not ever.  That is not to say I don't teach, I teach every opportunity....my tutorials on my website is one way that I teach.

In my mind that is not a requirement for elevation to the Pearl.(Web site publishing), or publishing in any fora for that matter.  However, if I don't know what you are doing, or how you are doing it, then I can not judge fairly on how well you are doing what ever it is that you do.  Find a way to get your knowledge spread to other people get them enthused with what it is you do.  Talk, display, talk some more, show more stuff....its funny how like interest people talk about other people's work...but if we don't know you are doing it, we aren't going to be talking about it.

In fairness though, my Lord, it has been suggested to several people I
know that they put up a webpage with their works so the people in the
south who don't make it up north can get a feel for who they are and
what they do, otherwise they're likely to get a "no" on the polling.
And I've been told (or read) that it is a requirement to be published
in order to get a Pearl.

Mind you, I'm not a Pearl (my work is not at that level yet and I know
it!), so I don't really know how true those requirements are among the
members of that august group, but that is what I've been told (and
from some members of the Pearl, no less.)
