> Greetings Atlantia,

> This weekend I was amazed to hear that there are at least 4 rumors floating around the Kingdom that are not true! I chose to believe that these are just mis-speaks by one or two individuals who for whatever reason decided to pass on this information to others instead of check the facts. So, here is what the actual truth is:

> 1)Myth: We made up the children of sitting monarchs award specifically so we could give it to our children.
>
> Fact: As Royalty, we do not have to ?Make up? awards to hand out...the
> Kingdom already has plenty of awards. If this was truly our intentions (to give our children more awards), wouldn't we be giving them all of the children?s awards that already exist, making them a court baron/ess, etc? Well, we have not done so and will not do so. If a future Monarch would like to give this Augmentation of Arms to our children, that is their call. Just so everyone knows, 1) other kingdoms already do this and 2) Duke Olaf originally approached us with the idea of starting an order for these children.
>
> There have only been a handful of Monarchs who have sat the throne of Atlantia with children. I would bet if you asked them if the children lost out during the reign, they would all say yes. The weekends at events, the HOURS on the phone and e-mail, it all takes time away from the children in the family. Is a purple shell on their heraldry really too much to give them in exchange for the many hours/weeks/months they give up their Parents to this society?
>
> 2) Myth: Sinclair and I do not support the archery community. This is proven by the fact that we did not attend Kingdom Archery Championship this past weekend.

>
> Fact: Sinclair has a wonderful IKAC score: he shoots a lot as does our son. I try to stop by the archery field at many events I attend just to speak with the people down there.Kingdom Archery Championship was up against The King"s Assessment of His Armies, where we were doing 2 Peerages. The autocrat of Assessments called us months ago and asked us what weekend we had free and arranged the event around one of our free weekends. When we saw the beautiful brochure for KAC, we truly wanted to attend. It was VERY nicely done and His Grace Valharic's cooking makes any
event well worth attending, but we had already said we would be at Assessments that weekend and made plans for the peerages there.
>
> 3) Myth: We are not supportive of the Northern end
> of the Kingdom.

> Fact: Out of 6 peers we are elevating this reign, 4 are from the Northern half of the Kingdom. Since we began our Reign as Royalty, we have attended the following NORTHERN events: Night on the Town, Blackstone Raids (not in our Kingdom, but A LOT of Northern Fighters go to this event), Sapphire Joust, Assessments, and Sinclair will be attending Storvik's Novice Tourneyin July. Since we only stepped up in April, by my
calculations, that is over an event a month (and there are some weekends we had Baronial Investitures where we HAD to be in a certain barony or HAD
to go to an event to do one of our 2 Southern peerages).

> Myth part 2: We did not have our Crown Tournament in the North, therefore keeping the Northern end of the Kingdom out of the loop.

> Fact: Please feel free to ask Duchess Simone about this (she is the Kingdom Events Bid deputy). We searched for over 8 weeks trying to find a VA site for Crown. Duchess Simone even called several groups asking them to put in a bid. We desired to have it in Southern or Middle VA, to have a site with cabins, bathrooms, showers, parking and a place for the tourney. We also needed a kitchen and feast hall. For any other event, we would not have required so many items, but as anyone who has fought in a Crown Tournament, one of the worst things is getting off work at 6p.m., driving for 6 hours and having to set up your tent in the dark in the early morning hours before you are supposed to fight at your best. We got in one bid with all of those things and that happened to be in SC. So, we could have turned it down due to its location, but we did not as it was the only bid that fit the requirements of the event. There were several other bids that would do
wonderfully for an event with different needs and Duchess Simone has asked them to re-submit for those events.
>
> 4) Myth: There is a Southern Plot to keep control of the Kingdom in
> the South and give no power to the North.
>
> Fact: I have always played in NC and SC. I have NEVER heard anyone say
> anything about the South needing to take and keep control of the kingdom. Sinclair fought in about 8 Crown Tournaments before he won, several of which were in Virginia and Maryland...not a good bet if you need someone to ensure the South wins. I promise, this might have been said by a few people at some event, but I HAVE NEVER heard a Peer or a member of the Royalty (Monarchs, Heirs or Baronage) say this.
>
> I would just ask that if you hear a rumor and you do not know it to be true, please give the Royalty the benefit of the doubt. I have not met any Past Monarchs who ruled without caring for the people of Atlantia. They are actually some of the smartest, most caring people that I know. Again, if you have a question or hear a rumor, please just ask!!
