> Your Majesty,

For my part, I love scribing. It's what I do; it keeps me sane out here
deployed to the desert, being my mental release after a long day; and most
importantly, it beings a smile to the recipient. It also doesn't hurt that
it supports the Kingdom. Would I like to one day be a Laurel? Sure, why not?
It's not my focus, however. The way I see it is that Laurel is the pinnacle
of A&S and award-wise there's nothing higher in the aspect of Arts &
Sciences, so I'm not in any hurry to achieve that level. Besides, even if I
were a Laurel, I would still do what I do now and that is t improve and try
to perfect my craft. I see nothing wrong with someone aspiring to a Peerage,
as long as that's not the *only* reason they do what they do.

I am a smoker and I can honestly say that after an event, if I haven't
already found an appropriate trash receptacle, my pouch is chock full of
cigarette butts. Just ask my lady wife.
***************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Now here's a question I have on the the subject of Peerages, specifically
the Order of the Laurel:
When a Laurel is chosen to be awarded to Lord/Lady X, can they be awarded
the Peerage out of the blue at Court or do they have to first stand vigil?
It seems to me that the vigil would minimize the pleasant shock of such an
award, or am I way off base? Also, if the Order has to be consulted
beforehand by Their Majesties, what if all the Laurels don't know the
candidate in question? i.e someone being looked at for their Laurel
from Northern Atlantia who doesn't come south all that much isn't
necessarily going to be known very well by the Southern Laurels. What I'm
asking is what do the Laurels look for and what is the process once the
decision is made?

Atlantia's humble servant,
Baron Wulfstan Egweald
