Greetings,

And is it worth mentioning that they're talking of going Principality then Kingdom themselves?

I've been in the East and the West. I don't want to stir up too much but some interesting facts should be considered:

-- The Principality of the Mists has been a Principality since ~1977 and I saw no call to Kingdom from them. They're happy with being a principality and leaving it at that.
-- The Principality of Cynaqua also seemed relatively content being a principality (though I expect they're the more likely to go kingdom).
-- The Kingdom Crown tournaments in the West rotated through the Principalities and elsewhere in the Kingdom, ensuring equal chances at participation (though I figure the vast altitude changes gave slight advantages at times ;). Granted, they also have 3 Crown tourneys per year, so the reigns are 4 months instead of 6, among other things to help with the cost/travel of being the Royals (and inadvertently allow for an insane number of SuperDukes ;).
-- In the East Kingdom where distances are small but populations aren't, ___you still get people complaining about events being too far away___. Carolingians consider anything off of the T (metro system) a distant hike and even some people in Rhode Island (a state you can't help but leave as it's only max 45 miles across) considered a drive greater than 3 hours too far!!! So no matter how you slice it, or divide it,... there will always be people who think events are too far away. PERIOD.

Therefore, I suggest that going Principality does not guarantee a walk to kingdomhood. Nor will it solve complaints, travel, or complaints about travel. However, personally, I found Principalities to be fun and interesting as it added another layer of stuff going on. But then again... I work for the federal government so maybe I'm just used to everyone having their own fiefdoms and layers of bureaucracy ;-)

Cheers,
Lady Bianca di Bari
