If I may be allowed an alternative view:
I believe we all can agree that gas prices are currently overwhelming us in our daily mundane lives, SCA lives and any other lives we may have. I read a post that suggested carpooling -- always a good idea if feasible.
I understand the posts that suggest the Royals need to "pick and choose" events. My alternative view here would be for Their loyal subjects one and all to contribute to Their travel fund, thereby alleviating Their personal costs. The Royals could then plan to attend any event They choose and those of us fortunate enough to be able to attend can do so. If we cannot attend the events due to our costs then we should bid on and hopefully obtain the rights to host a future event in which Their Majesties and Their Highnesses could travel to and honor us with Their Presence. In the mindane world, not everyone in the U.K. can see their Queen and her Consort and family everywhere either! :)
I must say that discussions without rancor can only strengthen a group of even the most diverse...
