I am encouraged to read that many Atlantians and peers feel the
Internet is a great tool for sharing knowledge, but not a replacement
for the more personal approach. It is also good to read
encouragement on sharing knowledge however one can, Internet
included. Those sentiments may give many the needed nudge to share
online without being looked upon as cookie hunters. :)
Knowing that Atlantian's are quick to point to the law, perhaps I
aught to have clarified a small detail. The quotes around "To be a
peer... web page." were meant to convey a common attitude, not a
written rule. I'm sorry that it came across that way.
I would love to hear from some who have an SCA web page. Do you feel
it has reached your intended audience? Has it been a labor of love
or frustration? (ie. How do you handle copyright issues?) All in
all, why did you do it?
Also, why don't more peers have websites if they are the ones with
the knowledge we seek? It seems to be mostly a trend among non-peers
to share knowledge online. How does the average viewer know if the
research is worthwhile? I would love to see more of those "in the
know" sharing with us online as well as at events and classes.
Cheers,
Sorcha :)
