[MR] Kingdom Level Events, etc

Good Gentles of the Tavern,
Lady Alessandra (and others who are from Highland Foorde) have given
us great food for thought regarding the efforts of their populace to
create a viable event bid. The Event Selection Committee also has an
obligation to ensure every event that Atlantia holds is optimum in
terms of fiscal responsibility, location and acceptability.
At it's heart, this issue (of forming a principality) was revisited
because there is a segment of the Kingdom that does not appear to be
having its needs met and is looking for a solution to that problem.
Where that segment is located (north vs. south) is a moot point,
because this issue could just as easily be impacting our
southern-most neighbors as well. Any group in Atlantia should expect
to be able to submit an event bid and have the honor of hosting
Atlantia in their home. The criteria for selecting an event bid (as
it currently stands) does not appear to be fair to those groups
located on the edges of the Kingdom. Could we possibly discuss
repairing the selection process that sparked some of this
frustration? Everyone can appreciate the passion this issue is
arousing in our Kingdom, so let's make sure our decisions will REALLY
solve problems and are not just knee-jerk reactions to stimulus.

I've sent my letter to the Kingdom seneschal expressing my thoughts on the
current event bid selection process. Might I suggest others open a dialog
with our Kingdom officers to improve this process? I thank you for your
attention to yet another voice in what has already been a sea of
discussion on this issue.
