[MR] Event Bids and Driving Distances

I am lucky to live more toward the Southern middle of the Kingdom, but
I still feel your pain and hope that your group does get to do a
Kingdom event at some point soon.

I do not know what factors went into the event bid selection process,
but I could see how in addition to the driving distance, the higher
chance of roads being blocked due to snow at 12th Night time might have
also been a concern with your location.

As for making things more affordable to the average SCA person, there
are some practices that seem to be less and less utilized. Namely
carpooling and crash space. Both of these not only help stretch your
SCA $, but they help to foster new acquaintances and friendships within
the Society!

Good luck with your upcoming Highland River Melees!
